It was an invitation from the Ministry of Education and Madame Ramponneau who is inviting the company of Monsieur and Madame Loisel at the Ministry on the evening of Monday. One evening, her husband gave her an envelope. She had a rich friend, named Jeanne Forestier, her old school friend whom she refused to visit, because of some reasons. When she and her husband sat down for dinner, she imagined delicate meals and delicate food served in marvelous dishes. She always imagined a wonderful house with wonderful ornaments, furniture, perfumes and others. She had no ideal man, but she had been married to a little clerk in the Ministry of Education.
